Organizational Favorites of Mine!

Hello Everyone!
I have had so many requests lately on organizational ideas so I decided to post some pic's from a blog post from days gone by...
My creative space happens to be a 10x16 building in my backyard that my family has affectionately named the Scrap Shack. It's fully insulated, has air cond/heating, and is packed from floor to ceiling with all my favorite things!! I would like to share a couple of my organization fav's ...they have added some much needed order to the Scrap Shack.

My Punch Rack (designed by my hubby):
Punches are so bulky and I hated keeping mine stuffed in a drawer or box because for me "out of sight" means "out of mind". I am such a visual person...I like to SEE all of my stuff. So my hubby came up with this amazing idea. He went to Lowes (or maybe it was Home Depot) and bought a piece of metal, then he measured the depth of the punches agaist the wall and cleverly bent the metal into shape with the help of his handy vice. He then attached it to the wall with screws and loaded it with my punches.
I currently have 3 punch bars in the Shack and I love them. Now, all of my punches are right there within arm's reach and I find that I use them so much more now. Added bonus -- they look beautiful and I can look at them lovingly all day long! ha!
Here is a great idea for organizing your ribbon...Let's face it...ribbon is a beast! I am a ribbon addict and I have had such a difficult time trying to figure out the best way to store it. This system works great for me! I purchased several white photo boxes just like this one...
Then, I measured the inside of the boxes and cut some pieces of chipobard that were slightly smaller than my measurement. Next, I sorted my ribbon into basic color groups. Then, I simply began wrapping my pieces of ribbon onto the chipboard and secured the ends with pearl head pins. They fit so perfectly in the boxes and now I can group them easily by color.
If you are a visual person (like me) then place the lid under the box so you can see the beautiful colors of ribbon. If you would rather keep a tidier appearance in your creative space, then simply place the lid on the box and create a label for your ribbon box with the color group listed on it.
Thanks so much for following my blog...I hope these ideas will help to give you some solutions to your organizational challenges. If you are interested in the punch bars, you can order them at the LBH for $10 ea. Have a great week and remember...

Stay true to your passion -- Keep Creating!

Joyfully Yours,
Tracy :)

P.S. If you have any organizational tips, please share them...I'm always looking for better ways to keep control of my stash :)

More inspiration...trends I see!

Hello everyone...
My recovery is going nicely...everyday get's a little better. Thanks again to all who have been checking on me, bringing food, and offering sweet words and prayers! You gals sure know how to make a gal feel good! I even found a great use for my sling...perfect for my Sonic Drink, stashing kleenex, pens & post its...You never know what may be lurking in there...haha!!!

As I have been recovering, I have been generating lots of orders for new products and collections that will be arriving this Spring and Summer. There are definitely some fun trends emerging in the industry...some through color, some through design, and some through techniques... I'm always watching the trends but have a tendency to want to be the "Trend-Setter" rather than the "Trend-Follower"...but we are all influenced by trends especially in the Creative Industry. I thought you might be interested in them too...so here's a quick look at what I'm seeing...

Color Trends:
Seems the entire industry is taking a walk on the "bright side"...
I have to say, I love it!
Beautiful bright color palettes...just make you feel happy!

Lots of Corals...shades of Orange...shades of hot Pinks!
Lots of Teal, Aqua, Yellows and Gray (the new black) is continuing to pop up in a ton of Paper Collections this year.
Color Trends are emerging through mediums such as Paints, Mists, and all kinds of Lotions & Potions too!
Fashion is taking a huge shift in this color way too...
Prepare for a colorful spring...it's coming soon!

Another trend on the floor...multiple vignettes geared towards Party Ideas! Many vendors are seeing that more and more people want to create unique Party Decor, Party favors, Invites, and so on...You will be seeing more of this in 2013...
Lots of emphasis on Celebrations!!!

I see a Front Porch Kit...emerging from this trend...
COMING soon!!!

One Design trend I have seen occurring, time and time again, is the use of "negative images"...meaning creating with the "negative" of a die cut or title versus the "positive". Here is a great example from Fancy Pants Designs...look at the title...

You couldn't walk too far along the Showroom Floor without seeing a Mustache here, there, and everywhere!!! They are hugely popular and I have to say...I was happy to see more Masculine types of lines being presented!

Chevrons and Hexagons are still the bomb!!! ...and Camera's and Camera images are all over the place...Instagram has inspired so many cool new "Polaroid" inspired goodies...Many vendors have added fun embellies with Instagram in mind!

Another emerging icon...Mason Jars! Love the charm of this little cuties!!!

Another biggie at the show...was anything related to Kitchen, Garden, Veggies, and Food in general...Lots of vendors are "Cookin' Up" some great new designs and collections...

Another TREND...Feathers, Feathers, Feathers!
Colorful ones, natural ones, vintage ones...from actual feathers, to feather stamps, to feather rub on's, to feather chipboard, etc. etc. etc. I love this NEW addition and love how designers are embellishing all kinds of projects with them from super cute LO's to amazing Home Decor pieces!!!

AND our Wonderful Obsession with Washi Tape continues...In rolled tape form and in sheet form...Washi tape is being used everywhere and on everything!!!! Check these out...I heart them!

And of course it's not just for bicycles...LoL! Washi is widely popular in all forms of Paper Crafting too....

Stencils are still HOT...and everyone is using them in all types of projects...Several vendors now offer specific stencils with their lines. Stencils are great for using in combinations with your favorite lotions & potions...and I love to use mine for adding doodling accents too....Doodling too, is still ever popular! Rub on's making a come back too this season...

I see a strong emphasis on Jewelry too at the show! In particular, lots of beautiful bezels and I love what we saw in the Ice Resin booth...Can you say "Gorgeous!"

Not just jewelry to wear... Beautiful for decor pieces...

Mixed Media has never been better!!! Love the fact that everything is "lightening" and "brightening" up! The grungy, more dark style of mixed media is evolving and I love the direction it's headed!
Art Journaling is a great outlet for our self-expression...and you will love the freedom it gives you to explore new techniques!

Collage projects are incorporating all kinds of products...paper, tissue, felts, ephemera, fabric, metals, wood, pretty much anything you can 'glue' down. We're expanding our Mixed Media off the page too...creating on canvases, book covers, home decor, and repurposed items (my personal fav!)...Getting our hands dirty artsy and loving every minute of it!

Believe it or not....I have barely scratched the surface with this post...SO MUCH to look forward to in the upcoming months within our beloved Art-filled Industry!!! I can't wait to share more inspiration, projects, products, and tutorials in the very near future!!! Thanks for reading along...Please post your comments here and I will be giving away some fun Art Anthology products to a few of my readers! Be sure to follow my blog...
More Crafty FuN info to share soon!

Keep Creating!

A Special Announcement and more....

Good Morning!
I thought I would post a quick update...
Surgery went well...It was my lucky day! First, I rec'd a phone call that I had been bumped up on the Surgery Rotation so we quickly took off for Dallas yesterday and didn't have to wait nearly as long. The surgery went just as expected and I was able to come home last night. As most of you may know, my oldest daughter Rachel is expecting her second child. As luck would have it, her sonogram was scheduled the same time as my surgery....So this of course gave me something to look forward to waking up to in recovery!

She sent me this video via text on my Iphone...

He is so excited about being a Big Brother! ...and of course his Lolly & Pop are thrilled to be getting another Grandie...and even happier that this time around we get a "Pink" one!
It will be so fun to create and make things for my NEW GrandGirl
I can't wait to meet her!

I will post more tomorrow about some great NEW trends that I saw emerging at CHA...for now this is about all the typing I can do single-handed...LoL! I will also announce the Winners from yesterday's CHA post and I'm going to do a special BABY giveaway today...Just cuz I'm a HaPPy LoLLy!!! Post your comments and I will randomly choose a winner to receive a special crafty goody from me!

..and now it's time for LoLLy to get a little rest...
Hugs to All!

another Day and more to Share...

Today for me was an interesting one...I began my day with a trip to UT Southwestern for my pre-op procedure. I was literally swallowed up in Pink...Pink Gown, Pink Robe, Pink Footies. Felt like I was swimming in Pepto...haha!

In this procedure, I literally became a Human Pin Cushion. Of course they numbed me up before all the squeezing, poking, prodding, and image after image was taken. After a couple of hours, I was bandaged up and sent on my way with all my films in  hand.

While I was having all this "fun", my sweet LBH gals (Elaine, Susan, Lynette) were all at the LBH reorganizing and cleaning out our studio closets. They look awesome and even have room to grow! Big hugs to them for tackling this daunting mission! They rock! Here's a peek in the back closet...Now if I could just get them to tackle my Scrap Shack at home...LoL!

I have spent a lot of the rest of my day typing...working on BluePrints, web posts, orders and such...because tomorrow is Part Two (surgery) for me and I will be doing things single-handed for a bit till I heal up. I really appreciate everyone's continued prayers and constant words of encouragement! I feel so blessed to be covered in prayer and surrounded by so many dear friends and family...ready to help if ever I am in need. Love You!!!

As promised, I want to share a few more of my CHA Fav's...I have been placing lots of orders and you will love the direction the industry is headed...It's like walking on SunShine!!!
Brighter and Better than ever... One NEW line I was especially excited about was the NEW Maggie Holmes collection. Maggie is a wonderful designer and even better photographer. She is now designing her own line with Crate Paper...I'm so happy that her talents are being recognized by the industry!

I love the soft but yet bright color palette of this line and check out these adorable polaroid printed frames...too cute!!

Lovely embellishments from charming clips to colorful bows...

Fun tags and labels too...

It was great to get to chat with her at CHA and see first hand the lovely, colorful components of her NEW collection.
This collection will soon be arriving at the LBH...
and I can't wait to create with it!!!
Here is a look at the portion of Crate Paper's booth devoted to Maggie's goodies...

Crate Paper hit a Big CraFty Home Run me at the show! I also completely fell head over heals for another NEW collection called DIY Shop! Love the name...don't you?!?!
Check this out...this entire sheet is Washi Tape...so cool! You can cut the strips or die cut or even cut on your Cricut if you want...

My most fav part of this line are these...I LoVe, LoVe, LoVe these photo overlays...and trust me...YOU will too!!! They add a wonderful effect to photos....Look at the picture above and the layout below to see what I mean...

Well, folks...that's all for tonight. I need to get some rest tonight...but stay tuned...I have SO MUCH MORE to share with you! Leave your comments for a chance to win something special from me!!! I'll keep you posted about Part Two...

Much Love & Big Hugs!
Miss Tracy :)
